Entire India is getting geared up for Ganesh Chaturthi. Also known as Vinayak Chaturthi, the Hindu festival is celebrated with full zeal and ‘josh’ in different parts of the country. The festival will commence on Tuesday. It will conclude on Thursday (September 28), when the Ganesh Visarjan will take place.The festival commemorates the birth of the Hindu God Ganesha, the God of wisdom. In addition to huge pandals, people install the clay statue of Lord Ganesh in their homes. Observances include chanting of Vedic hymns and prayers. Many also observe fasting.Ganesh Chaturthi ends on the tenth day (after the start). The idol is carried in a public procession and then submerged in a nearby body of water (river or sea).
