Realme’s new 12 Pro Plus teaser takes a sly dig at Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus’ 200MP camera
, hypes periscope lens

It’s time to move beyond 200 megapixels on to seemingly greener periscope pastures, a new Realme post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, signals. Obviously, it’s to hype the company’s next smartphone, possibly the 12 Pro Plus, which is set to be headlined by a periscope style zoom camera, but the timing of the post couldn’t be more “strategic.”

One can argue that Realme’s post and product page on its website are simply indicative of the gen-over-gen upgrade coming to its products and how the technology it is currently toying with  is perhaps better than everything that came before. The Realme 11 Pro Plus (also) has a 200-megapixel camera after all, and so, you won’t be wrong to believe it’s all business as usual.

It is not unusual for Realme to try and steal Xiaomi/Redmi’s thunder. It has happened before. Recently even. The Realme C67 5G was announced just hours before the Redmi 13C 5G launch with a promise of disrupting India’s entry-level 5G smartphone market. Turns out, the C67 was simply a rebadged Narzo 60x and it surely didn’t come cheap. Here’s hoping Realme’s periscope phone, Realme 12 Pro Plus or whatever it turns out to be, lives up to the hype.

With Realme starting off with its marketing campaign, it won’t be long before more details come about. Its last periscope phone in India, the X3 SuperZoom, was beyond stellar and so expectations will be high from whatever it is that Realme is cooking up for the market.
