The Israeli government’s controversial planned judicial overhaul has been met with nationwide protests. Thousands of protesters packed the country’s main airport and highways on Tuesday opposing the proposed changes. Several people have been arrested amid the protests. Around 1,000 police were deployed at Ben Gurion airport, outside Tel Aviv.The US has called for the protection of the independence of the judiciary and said Israel should respect the right to peaceful protest.
