Karnataka man chops off Anganwadi worker’s nose after children pick flowers from his yard

A man in Karnataka’s Belagavi district allegedly chopped off the nose of a 50-year-old Anganwadi worker, Suganda More, in anger after a few children playing near the Anganwadi centre picked flowers from his yard.

Suganda More, who serves as an Anganwadi worker in Basurte village, sustained severe injuries in the assault and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.

According to the police, the incident took place on Monday when children from the Anganwadi were playing outside and picked flowers from Kalyan More’s residence nearby. Upset over this, Kalyan attempted to beat up the children but Suganda stepped in, attempting to shield the children from harm.

Angered, the accused retrieved a sickle from his home and attacked the Anganwadi worker, chopping her nose. The incident was reported to the Kakati police station on Tuesday. The accused is yet to be arrested.
